ANNUAL PICNIC AND CHILI COOK-OFF

The Camelot Neighborhood Association will sponsor the Annual Picnic, Arlene’s Chili Cook-Off, and Camelot Cookie Contest on Saturday, October 25, 2025. The address of the event is 3413 King Arthur Drive. We will begin at 3:00 p.m. and end at 6:00 p.m. All Camelot families are welcome to join in the party. Face painting, plenty of games with prizes for the kids, plus new games for all will be part of the entertainment. Since this year’s picnic is close to Halloween, kids are welcome to wear their costumes. Please check in at the registration table when you arrive.

Arlene’s Chili Cook-Off, named after our longtime Cook-Off planner, Arlene Novak, is always a big attraction. We have great prizes for three categories: Best All-Round Chili, Hottest Chili, and Best Specialty Chili. Chili entries must be at the judging table no later than 3:15. Please contact Rick Williams at rickwilli@gmail.com or 214-535-2648 by October 20, or just show up with your crock pot if you want to enter the Chili Cook-Off.

Back for a third year is the Camelot Cookie Contest. This originally began when the CNA Board at the time were discussing non-sticky finger foods for desserts. A fun idea for a cookie contest was brought up, and it’s been a big hit ever since the first year. Please contact Reba Collins, 972-742-0312 or rcollins20@verizon.net. Winners will get a trophy and their recipe published in the newsletter.

Attendees will also receive tickets for some great raffle prizes from local businesses! We had several hundred dollars of raffle prizes at the picnic in 2024. The business meeting begins at 4:00 p.m. During this time, we will
recognize our special guests and announce the Camelot Yard of the Year and the winner of the annual Excalibur Award. Ballots will be distributed to any current members to vote for the 2026 slate of officers.

Dinner service begins after the judging is concluded, with hot dogs and all the fixings, chips, soft drinks, and samples of all the chili entries you care to try. If you have a secret recipe for chili, now is the time to whip it up and share it with your neighbors!

Volunteer opportunities: We need able-bodied helpers in several areas. Please contact Kim Uhlmann at CNAsocial@camelotna.com or call 214-202-2282 to help with any of the following:

• Food service line
• Set up/Tear down – Starting at 2:00 p.m., set up tables, equipment, canopy tents, etc.). Tear down begins at 6:00 p.m. I welcome assistance for one or both!

Picnic sponsors and door prize donations help CNA produce the best neighborhood picnic in the city. All sponsors will be acknowledged in Camelot’s award-winning newsletter, The Knightly News, at the prize table, and on the Camelot Neighborhood Association’s social media pages. Sponsors who donate more than $25 will get a free ad on CamelotNA.com. This is a great way to publicize a business to your neighbors. HOT DEAL: Bring your wallet or checkbook because all who join CNA for 2026 at the picnic will pay only $20, a $5 savings.
